Weekend Intensive Workshop with Leo Hu (New)

Saturday, June 10th  ~ 10 am – 3:00pm
Sunday, June 11th  ~ 10 am – 3:00pm
(Studio will be opened at 9:30am)
Join us for this concentrated weekend workshop with one of our most popular teachers.  Leo will guide students as they work on their own paintings in either watercolour, oil or acrylics;  with a limited class size, students will get lots of one on one attention and have an opportunity to work on larger scale paintings if they like.  Students should be prepared with their own subject matter (composition sketched out on canvas ahead of time) and all the materials required to complete their project (you will be allowed to leave your supplies and paintings overnight). 


Wednesday Morning Workshop

 This painting class is designed for beginner and intermediate painters working in Oils, Acrylics, or Watercolours. Joseph Wong, one of our most popular instructors at the workshop, will guide and inspire you while teaching painting techniques in the medium of your choice. Students supply their own painting materials, and should come to the first class prepared to work on the subject matter of their choice.



Friday Morning Outdoor Sketch Club

 This painting class in Oils, Acrylics, or Watercolours is perfect for beginner and intermediate painters. For June and July Leo Hu takes the class outdoors as he guides and inspires while demonstrating painting techniques in different mediums. In this one-on-one class students should come to the first class with their painting materials and the subject matter of their choice for the first class, and should also be prepared to work outdoors (weather permitting).


Drop-in Open Studio

Wednesday Evenings  6:00 – 9:00
$15 per session
Join us as we open our studio to all artists, giving you a creative environment to develop your work in a supportive community of your peers. No formal teaching will be conducted, but we will provide a creative outlet without the restrictions of an imposed curriculum.

Saturday Workshop

Join us on Saturdays as master palette-knife painter Chris Charlebois leads this exploration in Oils and Acrylics. His class is organized as a one-on-one instructional workshop, so students should have some painting experience and arrive for the first class with their own supplies and some prepared subject matter. Chris’s palette knife and impasto landscape paintings come alive with energy, inspiring students who want to explore textures in their paintings.


Mixed Media Workshop

with Mark Glavina and Bronwyn McIvor
Thursdays 7:00pm – 9:00pm
March 16 – May 4 (8 weeks)

Explore modern painting techniques using mixed media.  Each week students will be lead through a standalone workshop focused on a specific range of materials, styles and techniques:  Photo Transfers, Collage, Acrylic Grounds and Mediums, Working with Mixed Media and Wax.  Basic acrylic painting supplies are required,  with your instructors providing all other project-specific materials.

Anatomy of  Watercolour

Mondays 7:00pm – 9:00pm
March 20 – May 8 (8 weeks )

This comprehensive watercolour class examines the anatomy of good watercolour paintings and teaches techniques for all levels of experience.  Students will learn how to translate photos and reference materials to maximize the impact of dynamic colour, well-designed compositions, fluid washes, and confident brush stokes. This class’s format allows students to explore individual subject matter and projects while developing personal skills and confidence with watercolours.


Beginner Drawing Workshop

with Arnie Fisk
Tuesdays 7:00pm – 9:00pm (8 week session)
February 7 – March 28

Arnie Fisk leads this drawing class as an introduction to art though classical drawing. This class is much more than just a drawing class, as Arnie teaches students how to become better observers to see and capture form using pencil, charcoal, and other drawing materials. New and past students are welcome, regardless of your previous drawing experience, with all students seeing an immediate improvement to their drawing skills.


Fundamentals of Painting 

  with Bronwyn McIvor
Wednesdays  7:00pm – 9:00pm
February 1 – March 22 (8 weeks)

Students explore the fundamentals of painting (composition, brushwork, colour mixing, value) in Oils and Acrylics in this weekly workshop. The open format class allows students to bring individual projects to work on under Bronwyn’s guidance, or to work on the class project to develop specific skills. Beginner painters will find this a great introduction to the building blocks of painting, while intermediate painters can brush up on these core painting principles.


Cancellation Policy:
All our classes have limited space, ranging from 8 -12 students.  Registration is on a first come first served basis, with registration being confirmed by payment in full.  You can pre-book your class and our staff will contact you for payment when payments are due (usually one week in advance). 
We reserve the right to cancel any class, and will contact you at least one week prior to the first session to let you know if we do not have enough registration (this happens very rarely and we apologize in advance should this occur, but we need to meet our minimum registration in order to continue with the classes).
Registered students needing to cancel must do so a minimum of one week before the first class by email or phone to receive a refund on registration.
If you are not able to cancel one week in advance you will NOT receive a credit unless we have a waiting list and are able to fill your spot.  If we can do so, we will issue you an in-store credit which you can use for classes, art supplies, or custom framing.
